What we do

Everything a barber should do, and nothing he shouldn’t

No packages, no memberships, no products pushed at the register. Walk in, say what you want, and you’ll be out the door in about fifteen minutes.

Why people come back

Why people drive past four barbershops to get here

  • You don't need an appointment. You don't even need to call.

Walk in and take the next chair. Customers describe the wait as “hardly ever more than 5–10 minutes,” and most days you sit down immediately.

  • One barber. The same barber. Every single time.

John cuts every head that comes through the door. No rotation, no “your regular guy isn't in today,” and no starting over with someone who doesn't know your hair.

  • Fifteen dollars, and nothing added on at the end.

No packages, no membership, no products pushed at the register. One customer's word for the pricing here: “beyond reasonable.”

  • Coarse, thick and curly hair is a specialty, not a problem.

A customer's exact words: “Good at cutting coarse Asian and Mexican hair.” If other barbers have struggled with your hair type, this is where that stops.

  • Kids, seniors and first-timers are the point — not an inconvenience.

A dad wrote: “My son is autistic, and my son will only let him cut his hair. I've tried other barbers, but my son likes him.”

Before he picks up the clippers

Thirty seconds that guarantee you leave happy

John is fast. That’s the whole point — and it’s why a haircut here costs what it costs. It also means the thirty seconds before he starts matter more here than at a shop that’ll spend twenty minutes talking about it.

Do these three things and you will get exactly the cut you came for:

  1. Show him a photo

Any photo, on your phone. It beats any description you could give him.

  2. Say your guard number

“Two on the sides, scissors on top.” Don’t know your number? Say “shorter than this but not short” and point.

  3. Name the one thing you don’t want touched

The front. The length on top. The beard. Say it out loud before he starts, not after.

Growing your hair out? Tell him that first. Ask for a trim and clean-up only and he’ll take the scissors, not the clippers.

He’s been doing this a long time — as one customer put it, “you tell him what cut you want and he knows.” Just tell him.

Before you come in

Questions people ask first

Do I need an appointment?

No. This is a walk-in shop — come in during open hours and take the next chair. Customers describe the wait as five to ten minutes, and often none at all.

How much is a haircut?

A men's haircut is $15. It's the same price on a Tuesday morning as it is on a Saturday afternoon — no weekend surcharge and no upsell at the register. Fades, kids' cuts, senior cuts, beard trims, shaves and buzz cuts are $15 too. (Some older reviews still mention $10 — that was the price for a long time. $15 is current.)

How long will it take?

Most cuts are done in about fifteen minutes, and a buzz cut is quicker than that. John works fast, which is exactly why a haircut here costs what it does.

What are your hours?

Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm, Saturday 9am to 6pm, and Sunday 10am to 2pm. Saturday opens an hour earlier than the rest of the week.

When is the shop least busy?

Weekday mornings right after 10am are the quietest. Saturdays are the busiest day, so come early — the shop opens at 9am.

Do you cut kids' hair?

Yes, and a lot of it. Plenty of our customers had their very first haircut in this chair. If your child is nervous or sensitive to the clippers, say so when you walk in and John will slow down.
